How Countrywide sells REO Property

April 11, 2009

It’s been my experience that Countrywide negotiates very little if any.

Before Countrywide lists a property they have it appraised (estimated) for what it should SELL FOR in today’s market. Then they list the property at or near that price. If they don’t have any offers coming in they lower the price by 8 or 10 thousand every two weeks. When they start getting offers they usually counter back at full price until they have three or four buyers interested.  At that point they give everyone one last chance to make a Highest & Best offer.

Great information about foreclosures, Chad. I also see you have a foreclosure list online for anyone to view. That’s fantastic.
